the beginning of 2009 saw cat's time focused on learning about and finding the sea gypsies, the floating nomads of the andaman sea; the moken people.

cat found the last family who still live most of their life on the waves, around the surin islands, where the jungle meets the white sand that meets the clear turquoise water that finds the free soul. these wandering sea dwellers let cat into their world and shared with her some of their soul...

on this last trip cat didn’t reach the mysterious mergui archipelago, some 800 islands, in the forbidden myanmar waters of the andaman sea, to the north of the surin islands. she has a trip now being planned.. to these forbidden waters of the megui  archipelago, with 2 anthropologists, who have worked with the moken since 1982. cat, jaques ivanoff and dr. narumon plan to make this trip in the next few months. we hope to find flotillas of nomadic moken on their kabangs, amongst the 800 islands, in an untouched world.

cat plans to have an exhibition of these images and hopes to produce a book of 'her story'.

cat photographed the sea gypsies in the ‘red shoes’ and they made their wishes...

In the next few months, cat also has her trip to the tibetan settlement in northern India, where she will have the opportunity to spend time with his holiness the dalai lama.
